He now plans to train every deputy marshal in the city in the use of the non-lethal weapon which can be used to incapacitate drug-crazed, drunk, mentally disturbed or belligerent suspects without permanent harm.
“The TASER is the only weapon that gives non-lethal instantaneous immobilization,” Hilton said. “The only other weapon that can instantaneously immobilize a suspect is a shot from a gun, but that is lethal and it has to be in the right spot.”
