Wives, girlfriends face obstacles off the field
Football players’ wives have to be as tough as a goal-line stand.
Ruston resident Josie Herbert, who attended the “Pigskins and Pearls” event at Squire Creek on Thursday, is the daughter of Garland Gregory, who was Louisiana Tech University’s first All-American player in 1939.
When Herbert was born, her father was a player on the first San Francisco 49ers team. She recalls her mother’s exasperation with his long hours spent outside the home.
