Local schools will be in session once again in just a few short weeks.

Parents who want to increase the chances that their child will have a successful school year might try some of the following strategies:

• Read to children at night — Hearing an adult read aloud helps kids learn word pronunciation and how to use the words in the appropriate context. Using funny or scary voices might help spark or maintain the listener’s interest.
