Alderman’s property to be demolished
Ruston City Councilmen on Monday approved the demolishment of property belonging to one of their own.
Aldermen voted 4-0 to permit city officials to tear down the childhood home of Ward 1 alderman Levell Thurman, who owns the home with his siblings.
“It was Mother and Daddy’s house,” said Thurman, who abstained from the vote. “It’s been vacant for about eight years — since my brother moved out. Everybody else had their own houses, and it just fell apart. We probably didn’t keep it up like we should have.”
