June sales tax collection spiked
When compared with the same months in 2009, Lincoln Parish sales tax collections spiked in June after taking a tumble in May.
Jerry Moore, sales and use tax administrator for Lincoln Parish, said collections for June 2010 were up 10.9 percent over collections for June 2009. For May, collections were down 18.5 percent.
Moore attributes the difference to delinquencies not collected until June and to other factors, such as some construction and a tweak in the law to help the parish collect sales taxes on mobile home purchases.
