Crowds gathered with their dogs for Ruston Parks and Recreation’s 2009 K-9 Pool Party. Swimming times were divided by dogs’ size and weight.

After a grand opening, three sessions of swimming lessons and nine weeks of frolicking in our basin, the 480,000-gallon Municipal Pool on Georgia Street closed on July 31.

However, the city of Ruston Parks and Recreation Department will open our hearts and pool to the canine citizens of Lincoln Parish. From 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, the pool is going to the dogs and will become the coolest place to be in the city for our hot hounds.

That’s right, beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, dogs and puppies of all sizes are welcome to show off their best doggie paddling skills at the K-9 Pool Party.
