Mary Ione Tubbs Roberson (also known simply as “Mamaw Tudy” to her family and friends), age 80 of Dubach, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 17, 2010 in West Monroe.

She was preceded in death by her parents: J.T. Tubbs and Hazel Auger Tubbs; her brother:  Roland Tubbs; her sister:  Bertha Mae Jennings; and her husband of  52 years:  Edgar Norris “Nig” Roberson. She is survived by her four children: James Roberson, Sheila Murray, Lana Howard and Carol Telford and husband Ken all of Dubach; two grandsons: Nathan Wilson and wife Joanna of Farmerville and Kerry Wayne Byrnes and wife Alice of Ruston; two granddaughters: Michelle Bergeron and husband Ricky of Dubach and Shana Telford all of Dubach and  eight great grandchildren:  Justin Wilson, Kirstyn Wilson, Hunter Wilson, Ricky Joe Bergeron, Landon Bergeron, Deacon Bergeron, Morgan Byrnes and Jack Byrnes.

Mrs. Roberson was born in Farmerville, Louisiana on April 19, 1930, graduated from Farmerville High School in May of 1948, married Edgar Norris “Nig” Roberson on June of 1948 and moved to Dubach where she lived her remaining years. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Dubach.  Mamaw Tudy loved to fish, sing and yodel, shop, work in the yard and garden as well as spend time with her family and friends.  She loved life and had a good time wherever she was.  Also, throughout her life, she took care of many stray animals and had numerous unbelievable stories to tell about that. The family would like to express their sincere heartfelt appreciation for all the wonderful loving care and treatment given to Mamaw Tudy by the staff of Cornerstone Hospital, Dr. Don Hammett, Ruston Nursing and Rehab Center and Northern Louisiana Medical Center.  They would also like to thank Bro. Connie Smith and all of their friends and neighbors for the prayers and support, particularly during the last few months. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, July 19, 2010 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston.  

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday July 20, 2010 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Dubach with Rev. Connie Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Fellowship Cemetery in Dubach under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston. Pallbearers will be Nathan Wilson, Gary Tubbs, Ricky Bergeron, Randy Roberson, Reagan Colvin, and Max Gaskin. Honorary pallbearers will be James Ray Watts, Dennis Wayne Byrnes, Terry Knowles, Ted Knowles, George Green, and Grady Lee Bagwell. Planned memorials may be made to the Youth Fund at Fellowship Baptist Church or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. To leave an online memorial message for the family, please visit www.owensmemorialfuneralhome.com.
