Dealing with children who have mental and behavioral disorders can be a confusing situation for parents, teachers and friends.

The Ruston chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness will offer some assistance with their monthly educational meeting, which will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Community Room at Community Trust Bank Financial Center located at 511 N. Trenton St. David Wheeler, a licensed psychologist and clinical director at the Methodist Children’s Home, will enlighten the public about the issues facing children with mental or behavioral disorders.

“I would like to present a holistic view of children’s mental and emotional disorders including not only biological factors but also other life events that can affect the way we develop,” Wheeler said. “Along with that, I’d like to include some ideas of how to manage the different factors that come into play in how a child functions.”
