Art of Film screens Indian take on ‘Pride and Prejudice’
Lincoln Parish Library and North Central Louisiana Arts Council’s Art of Film screening will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 26 in the Lincoln Parish Library meeting room. The featured film is “Bride and Prejudice” starring Aishwarya Rai and Naveen Andrews (“Lost”).
The film begins a special segment of the series — the Aug. 26 and Sept. 23 movies are both based on Jane Austen’s classic “Pride and Prejudice.” August features a Bollywood-style adaptation by the director of “Bend It Like Beckham,” while September showcases a version starring Sir Laurence Olivier.
The August screening brings a comedic culture clash. In “Bride and Prejudice,” sparks fly between a small-town Indian beauty and a rich American. Through a blend of songs, dance and comic misunderstandings, these opposites attract and repel each other in a romance spanning three continents. Details are available on www.imdb.com.
