Detectors part of city revival effort
Residents who live in the area South of California Street were probably at least a little surprised to have fire fighters and other community members knocking on their doors on a sunny Saturday afternoon. They quickly discovered that they weren’t there to warn of a fire, but to make sure that area residences were prepared if a fire ever did occur.
RFD Public Education Officer Eric Brazzel said that while the department has offered a smoke detector service for some time many people probably don’t know about it, so what one particular organization has done is great.
The southern part of Ruston has been on the community service radar of local organizations for a while now because of the work by students at the Louisiana Tech University School of Architecture, who have lovingly dubbed the area SOCA and were also on hand to help out Saturday.
