Arson suspected in structure fire

An arsonist might have been the cause of a blaze that erupted in an abandoned house on Saturday.

Ruston Fire Department received a 911 call shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday reporting a structure fire at 803 Gilman St. When eight firefighters arrived on the scene, they reported seeing fire coming from the roofline of the front porch and extending into the attic. RFD Public Education officer Eric Brazzel said the home was vacant and had no utilities attached, and there also appeared to be multiple points of ignition for the fire.
