For many, there can be no better feeling than when the Ruston Bearcats beat the Neville Tigers in football. What a time for celebration! Having just come off the big rivalry win, adrenaline flows wildly with the anticipation of more Bearcat victories down the road. Such wins tend to set the stage for greater things yet to come or at least so goes our mindset.
The great former Ruston football coach Chick Childress told me once that “how goes the football program is how goes the school year.” If you can establish a winning season, then everything else within the schools seems to go well. You know, he probably had a point. Within our mental framework are those triggers that help boost our spirit and keep us on the path of future success. Wins and other noteworthy successes drive our mental attitudes leading us to believe that we are invincible and can easily raise the bar for the next challenge.
