Adam Van (12) and the Cedar Creek Cougars will be in action on Friday as they head to Delhi to play a District 2-1A game against the Bears. Also in action in their second-to-last games of the regular season will be the Ruston Bearcats, who head to Monroe to take on Wossman and the Grambling Lab Kittens, who have a 7 p.m. home contest against Arcadia.

On Wednesday afternoon, Gov. Bobby Jindal signed into law his historic package of education bills that marked sweeping reform to the state’s public education.
Locally, many teachers, residents and community members were on edge while the bills were debated in the House and Senate. The representatives and senators that represent Lincoln Parish in the state Legislature had mixed feelings about the bills and shared some of those thoughts with the Ruston Daily Leader.
Mother Nature was in a giving mood Saturday, as were many residents of Lincoln Parish Hundreds hit the streets of Ruston under bright blue skies and mild temperatures to participate in the annual March for Babies benefitting the March of Dimes.
“We were a little concerned about the weather and the fact that we thought it might be a little cool,” said organizer David Darland, who also serves as the Louisiana MOD state board treasurer.
