Tech trims costs, asks state for help with biomed building
The $1.1 million was the difference in the amount of money that was available and what Mann Construction — the low bidder on the project — determined it would cost to construct the new building.
So Reneau had his folks go to work to see when money might be saved, and Reneau began talking with Tech alumni.
"The architects asked Mann Construction what we could do to cut costs," Jerry Drewett, vice president for Administrative Services at Louisiana Tech, said. "We found about $120,000 in cuts we could live with, without hurting the building."
