Purcell and Smith wed
Heather Marie Purcell of Kingwood, Texas, and Kevin William Smith of Greece, N.Y., were married at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 6 at Ashton Gardens in Houston. The Rev. Eric Smith officiated the ceremony.
Heather is the daughter of Margaret McKee Hill of Splendora, Texas, and Bud Purcell of Boston. She is the granddaughter of Albert and Irma McKee of Ruston, the late Margaret Sugden and the late Ed Purcell. Heather’s stepparents are Billy Hill and Cathy Purcell.
Kevin is the son of Jeffrey and Debra Smith of Greece, N.Y. He is the grandson of Donald and Shirley Healey of Greece, N.Y., Nancy Smith of Greece, N.Y., and the late Adam Smith.
Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore an ivory couture silk gown by Audrey Hart. Clusters of Swarovski crystals accented the empire waist. The fingertip veil was edged in crystal beads with a jeweled hairpiece. The bride carried a bouquet of ivory roses and calla lilies.
Sister of the bride Jennifer Purcell of Kingwood, Texas, served as the maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were sister of the bride Sara Purcell of Boston; sister of the groom Jamie Smith of Greece, N.Y.; Carleigh Romeis of Seattle; Kathryn Wilson of Los Angeles and Lindsay Orman of Washington, D.C. Junior bridesmaid was sister of the bride Rachel Purcell, of Boston. Claire Bridenstine of Charlotte, N.C., was the flower girl.
The bridesmaids wore floor length jade green gowns of poly-chiffon in various styles. They carried bouquets of orange double calla lilies with accent green dianthus.
Brothers of the groom Jeffrey Smith and Kyle Smith, of New York City, served as best men. Groomsmen were Jake Smith of Greece, N.Y.; Mark Paul of Houston; Matt Paul of Houston; Tom Murphy of Saugerties, N.Y.; and Ty Smith of Greece, N.Y.
Special passages were read by aunt of the bride Barbara McKee Andries of Long Beach, Calif., and cousin of the groom Karissa Birthwright of Greece, N.Y.
The chapel aisle was adorned with ivory hydrangeas.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Northwest Forest Conference Center, Settlement House, in Cypress, Texas. DJ Connection provided the music.
The bride and groom give special thanks to wedding coordinators Lauren Johnson and Danielle Darst Coleman, and also to Jerry VanDaveer for his help with planning for the wedding and reception flowers and décor.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner of Texas barbecue on Nov. 5 at Bear Creek Park in Cypress, Texas. The wedding party and all out of town guests were in attendance.
Following a honeymoon to St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Houston.
