A train fatally struck a Homer man Saturday at a crossing on Louisiana Highway 563 close to Simsboro.

Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office’s Capt. Stephen Williams said that according to personnel, the pedestrian, identified as 49-year-old Tommy Kemp, had been given several warnings of the oncoming freight.

“He blew the horn several times. The lights were on … ” Williams said. “Apparently the guy never heeded any warnings. I don’t really know why he didn’t react.”

No further details were available at press time this morning.
