On Nov. 30 , City of Grambling leaders, members of the business community and local residents gathered at Grambling City Hall for a groundbreaking ceremony for the soon-to-be-developed Mansfield Estates.
Located directly behind city hall, the subdivision will include six two-bedroom homes, 21 three-bedroom homes and four four-bedroom homes. The name bestowed to the new development is to honor a former Grambling Mayor and Police Juror, the Rev. Julius Mansfield.
Christmas has come and gone and the new year has begun. However, with all the joys and tidings that the holiday season brings, so does it usher in tons of waste. From wrapping paper to boxes to Christmas trees, the dumpsters of Lincoln Parish are overflowing.
In an effort to keep Lincoln Parish clean, the City of Ruston has made disposing of some of the holiday garbage a little easier. Currently, a trailer is located in the parking lot across from the Ruston Civic Center, where residents may take their Christmas trees for disposal. While real trees, flocked and green ones alike, are accepted, manufactured trees are not.
Early voting for the Dec. 6 general election starts Saturday. We echo Louisiana Secretary of State Tom Schedler’s suggestion that all eligible voters consider voting early.
“This is always a busy time of year with families traveling and time off of work, but it’s important not to forget about the Dec. 6 election, especially with the congressional runoffs as well as many important local races. By casting your ballot early, you can vote on your own schedule when it’s most convenient,” Schedler said.
