There are only 12 days remaining until Christmas Day, and this week has been the week of holiday cheer in Ruston. There are many different things going on in the community, and while we are marking gifts off our Christmas lists, we should go out and support Lincoln Parish.
At 7:30 p.m. today the Russ-Town Band will be having their annual Christmas performance at the Dixie Center for the Arts. The concert is free and open to the public, but there will be a chance to donate either canned goods to Christian Community Action or toys to the Toys for Tots campaign.
With U.S. soldiers overseas in nations across the globe doing their best to keep America safe and free, area residents need to take some time out today to thank them for their help by observing Veterans Day.
While they may not be veterans yet, today’s soldiers are doing what millions of others in our nation’s history have done to make sure we remain, “the land of the free, and the home of the brave.”
From World War I to Vietnam to Iraq, U.S. soldiers have given their time, energy, well-being and lives for this country, and Veterans Day is meant to help honor all those who have served.
