The Lincoln Parish School District continues its award-winning emphasis on science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) related studies and events with an expansion of its Science Olympiad program.
When Thelma Williams stepped off the train in October of 1956. It was 89 degrees. She had a mink coat, her luggage and no idea where her life was taking her.
“I wanted to take the coat off,” she said. “It was just so hot but I was afraid someone would steal it.”
Williams didn’t plan on coming to Louisiana. She had been a dancer at the Carnegie Hall Studio in New York and was ready to teach in North Carolina, but a last minute switch led her here to become the first dance teacher at Grambling State University.
Talented high school students from all over northern Louisiana gathered on the campus of Grambling State University to showcase their art skills at the 2014 High School Art Exhibition last week in Dunbar Hall.
There were a total of 92 entries of artwork by 78 high school students from 10 different high schools throughout the Northern Louisiana area. There were a total of 12 teachers under whom these students were taught.
