SUBJECT: Committee Report
The Public Property and Building Committee of the Lincoln Parish Police Jury met in the Police Jury Meeting Room, Third Floor, Lincoln Parish Courthouse, Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at 6:00 p.m. Present were: Roy Glover, Chair; Theresa Wyatt, Jody Backus, Annie Brown, Sharyon Mayfield and Mickey Mays.
ABSENT: None
Roy Glover called the meeting to order and delivered the Invocation. Annie Brown offered a motion, seconded by Sharyon Mayfield, to approve the agenda. The motion carried with the following votes:
YEAS: Wyatt, Glover, Backus, Brown, Mayfield and Mays
NAYS: None
ABSENT: None
First on the Agenda was to discuss security issues in the courthouse. Sheriff Mike Stone was present to give a report to the Committee. Sheriff Stone explained that building security is a complicated issue and recommended that a committee representing entities in the Courthouse be formed to study the issue and report back to the Police Jury. After discussion and comments, Mickey Mays offered a motion, seconded by Annie Brown to have the President appoint a Facility Security Study Committee to investigate security options and associated costs, both short-term and long-term. The motion carried with the following votes:
YEAS: Wyatt, Glover, Backus, Brown, Mayfield and Mays
NAYS: None
ABSENT: None
Mickey Mays offered a motion, seconded by Sharyon Mayfield, to advertise for sale the surplus property at the Police Jury Complex at the appraised value with the stipulation that the successful purchaser must demolish the building within six months of acquisition. The motion carried with the following votes:
YEAS: Wyatt, Glover, Backus, Brown, Mayfield and Mays
NAYS: None
ABSENT: None
There being no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
