If our state is ever to escape the widely-held beliefs that our government is rife with corruption, it needs to start by passing this bill.

Granted, the levee districts actually have nothing to do with the design or construction of levee systems in Louisiana. That job is handled by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

But it’s the perception that these boards are at the root of the levee problems in New Orleans. To counter that perception, change is needed.
