Louisiana Tech University’s track and field season will continue for several athletes, as the NCAA has announced that Tech has earned 17 entries into the NCAA East preliminary championships scheduled Thursday through Sunday on the campus of the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla.
Tech’s 17 entries are the second most among Louisiana’s Division I schools (second only to LSU).
Two key receivers have been honored at the state’s highest level for their contributions in Ruston High’s eight-victory 2011 football season.
Wideout David Hernandez (6-1, 175) and tight end John David Moore (6-3, 195), who had a combined 65 catches totaling nearly 800 yards, are honorable mention members of the Class 5A All-State squad selected by members of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Hernandez, a senior, led RHS in receiving with 28 catches for 455 yards and three touchdowns and third-year member Moore ended with 19 catches for 317 yards and four scores.
