HUNTINGTON, W.Va. —Marshall made a living with two outs Saturday as the Thundering Herd scored all 14 of its runs in its doubleheader sweep of Louisiana Tech with two outs as the Lady Techsters saw their postseason hopes come to an end.
Marshall (25-30, 12-11 C-USA) defeated Tech 5-2 and 9-0, eliminating the Lady Techsters (19-32, 7-15 C-USA) from the Conference USA Tournament scenario. Tech will wrap up its season at 11 a.m. today with the third and final game of the series.
Charles Brunetti (far right) of Diamond Designs and Construction based out of New Albany, Miss. and his crew install synthetic turf at the Lady Techster Softball Complex as part of the renovations that are taking place at the facility this summer. In addition to the turf, a new chain-link fence, new irrigation and subsurface drainage were also installed along with brick columns running along the first base line. Additional renovations are scheduled for next summer, as Tech is set to host the Western Athletic Conference championships in May of 2013.
