The city of Ruston got some financial good news Wednesday at the close of bond sales for the Moving Ruston Forward infrastructure program. The sale that was anticipated to bring in $41 million yielded close to $45.7 instead. “I’m just tickled to death,” Mayor Ronny Walker said. “I couldn’t believe it.” The additional roughly $4.7 million came as a result of low interest rates, Toby Cortez, public finance director with Stifel, the investment-banking firm handling the sale, said. “This was a very good time to enter into the bond market,” Cortez said. “The bond sale was very successful and rates...
