Louisiana Tech University President Les Guice will step down at the end of the year after more than a decade at the helm.
Guice, 68, announced his impending retirement in an email to faculty Tuesday morning.
“I have been blessed to be a part of an incredibly dedicated faculty, staff, and administration at Louisiana Tech for the past 45 years,” he said in the email. “I have been most gratified to be a part of this team that puts the success of our students as the top priority.”
A former department head, College of Engineering and Science dean and Vice President at Tech, Guice succeeded Dan Reneau as the university’s 14th president in 2013. He celebrated his 10th anniversary as president this summer.
Guice said he sent a letter to University of Louisiana System President Jim Henderson last week, requesting a retirement date “at the end of 2023.”
“I will work with Dr. Henderson to ensure a smooth presidential transition so the next President can hit the ground running,” he said.
