Doug Postel is no longer parish administrator of the Lincoln Parish Police Jury.

The jury voted 8-4 Tuesday night to forego renewing Postel's yearly contract, effectively firing him from the post after two and a half years on the job. Assistant Parish Administrator Kevin Klepzig was appointed to the head position in an interim capacity.

The vote came after a lengthy public comment period, in which a packed crowd at the Lincoln Parish Library Events Center supported Postel's reappointment without exception.

Parish administrator is the jury's top position, hiring and overseeing all other employees across all departments.

Voting against Postel's contract renewal: Theresa Wyatt, Hazel Hunter, Richard Durrett, Skip Russell, Joe Henderson, Milton Melton, Sharyon Mayfield and Annette Straughter.

Voting in favor: T.J. Cranford, Logan Hunt, Glenn Scriber and Matt Pullin.
