The Lincoln Parish School Board will hold a special session Tuesday evening to appoint a new member following the arrest and subsequent resignation of David Gullatt.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the central office at 410 S Farmerville Street with two action items: appointing a new District 3 board member for the remainder of 2022 and electing a new board president.

School board terms are up at the end of this year, with elections this fall. By state law, if a vacancy opens up with less than 18 months left in the term, the board can appoint a member to fill the vacancy until the next regular election rather than calling a special election.

Gullatt, whom the school board had just elected as its president in January, was arrested Friday afternoon in the parking lot of Planet Fitness in Ruston's Graham Shopping Center after he allegedly exposed himself, performed a lewd act in his vehicle in plain view while talking to an adjacent motorist, and was found with suspected methamphetamine on his person.

He had resigned his position as a school board member and president by Monday.
