A celebration of life service for Billy Joe Jones of Choudrant will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2019, at Douglas United Methodist Church in Choudrant with the Rev. Jeremy Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the Sibley Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.

Visitation was held from 5 - 7 p.m. held Thursday, Aug, 29, 2019, at Douglas United Methodist Church.

Billy was born in Downsville, LA, on Dec. 20, 1946, and went to be with his Lord in Heaven on Aug. 27, 2019, after a lengthy illness.

Billy was a lifelong resident of Choudrant and a member of the Douglas United Methodist Church. Billy graduated from Choudrant High School in 1964. He retired from Bell South in 2001 after 31 years of service.

Billy was preceded in death by his mother, Vivian Morgan Walker and step-father Tex Walker; father, Delmar Jones; father-in-law, James “Doc” Land and mother-in-law, Freddie Pipes Land.

Billy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Helen Land Jones; daughter Kristi Theodos and husband, Timmy; son Brad Jones and wife, Jody.

Four grandchildren: Kade Theodos and fiancée Brooke Mizell, Jordan Jones, Braden Jones, and Briley Jones.

He is also survived by his brother, Jerry Jones and wife Nina; sister-inlaw, Joyce Kay Smith and husband Bobby; sister-in-law, Judy Harris and husband Roger; brother-in-law, Mike Land and wife Dana, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Shea Greer and LaQuisha “Q” Perry for the loving care they provided to Mr. Billy over the past several years.

Pallbearers will be his nephews: Robby Smith, Joey Smith, Tim Smith, Matt Land, Jonathan Jones, Rusty Welch, Shane Echols, and Jeff Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Douglas United Methodist Church, 1642 Hwy. 821, Ruston, LA 71270.
