As part of its Boosterthon fundraiser, A. E. Phillips Laboratory School in Ruston held its Color Run this week. Students have currently raised $65,000 in pledges with more coming in, in addition to corporate sponsorship. According to School Director Jenny Blalock, they will be purchasing literacy materials, upgrading gym lighting and providing support for every club and sport at school. Also, the top fundraiser will be “principal of the day” some time in April. The teacher of the top fundraising class will have a mural painted in the classroom. “AEP has been hosting a Boosterthon fundraiser for many years. We anticipate this one to be our most successful, yet,” Blalock said. “This fundraising event begins with a peprally, two weeks of fundraising, and a culminating ‘fun run’ at the end. We could not have such a successful fundraiser if it were not for our Parent/Faculty Council, our Bullpup families, teachers, and students. We are beyond grateful for our corporate sponsors and private donors. Thank you.” Courtesy photos
