The Louisiana Tech Concert Association will host Duo Velox today at 5 p.m. in Howard Auditorium on campus. Formed in 2016, Duo Velox consists of Kaitlyn Neufeld (clarinet) and Aaron Burr (saxophone).

The duo has performed throughout the southwest and Kansas, including notable performances and premieres at the International Duo Symposium, International Clarinet Association ClarinetFest, and the North American Saxophone Alliance. Neufeld and Burr advocate for new music and expanding the repertoire for the clarinet/saxophone duo. The Duo will also talk with Music Majors today at 2 p.m. and give a Single Reeds Masterclass at 3 p.m. Both of these events will take place in the Recital Hall, at Howard Center 214-215.

Neufeld is an instructor of woodwinds and music appreciation at Dallas College and maintains a thriving private studio of clarinetists and saxophonists in the Dallas area. She previously served as the clarinet instructor at MidAmerica Nazarene University, where she taught applied lessons and chamber music.

Neufeld has held Graduate Teaching Assistantships at both the University of Kansas and the University of New Mexico, where she taught applied clarinet, woodwind methods, chamber music, and music appreciation. As a dedicated performer, she has appeared with the Kansas City Lyric Opera, New Mexico Philharmonic, New Texas Symphony Orchestra, Crossroads Wind Ensemble, Pinnacle Winds, and the Albuquerque Symphony.

A native of northern Arizona, saxophonist and educator Burr is an advocate for student achievement and new music. While in Dallas, Burr maintained a thriving private studio where his saxophone, clarinet, and jazz students excelled at the regional and state levels. Additionally, he has given guest recitals and masterclasses throughout the southwest and has had the opportunity to perform with Plano Symphony Orchestra, San Angelo Symphony Orchestra, Mesquite Symphony Orchestra, and the New Texas Symphony Orchestra.

Recently, he has led consortiums for new pieces for tenor saxophone and fixed media. Burr is currently the Lecturer of Saxophone at Central Washington University where he teaches applied saxophone lessons, chamber music, and jazz band. He is a Dahlke Mouthpiece performing artist.
