The new Interstate 20 service road between La. 33 and Rough Edge Road is open. The service road is part of a multi-phase project that will eventually include construction of on-off ramps at Rough Edge Road, just east of Ruston. The project is designed to make access to the Ruston Municipal Airport easier from I-20, as well as aid in opening industrial property along the interstate. The Rough Edge Road project, which first broke ground on March 6, 2017, and was delayed by work diverted to the Ruston Sports Complex and by multiple weather events, is part of the Lincoln Parish I-20 Corridor Transportation Program. Pictured at top is the east end of the 2.6-mile service road as it intersects with Rough Edge Road with a close-up of the road sign inset. Pictured at bottom is a look east down the service road while pictured second is the Celebrity Drive intersection that westbound drivers on the service road will use to reach Louisiana Highway 33 as well as Interstate 20. The approximately $7.3 million project was paid from tax increment district funds.
