A strong spring storm will bring the threat of severe thunderstorms, strong winds, large hail, flooding and possible tornadoes to the Lincoln Parish area beginning late tonight into Tuesday.

“This is ramping up to be the most significant severe weather event so far,” Lincoln Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Director Kip Franklin said this morning.

The weather event should make its way into Lincoln Parish around 2 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Shreveport.

As of noon today, Lincoln Parish remained in the slight risk category for severe weather. Heavy rain is expected to be the primary threat between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday. The parish could receive as much as 6 inches of rainfall.

A flash food watch is already in effect for the area until 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Residents are urged to monitor weather resources for update, Franklin said.
