Slight chance for winter precipitation in Lincoln Parish

Lincoln Parish could see some light freezing rain today as part of what the National Weather Service calls a “complex weather event” unfolding across part of the South.
A slight ice accumulation of generally less than one tenth of an inch is possible on bridges and overpasses as temperatures hover around freezing.
But with the ground temperatures still in the upper 40s, road conditions shouldn’t be an issue, meteorologist Gary Chatelain, with the National Weather Service Shreveport office said.
“You’re kind of just on the edge of it, but cold air does drain down through Lincoln Parish pretty good,” Chatelain said.
The parish remains under a winter weather advisory until 9 a.m. and under a flood watch through most of the day Thursday.
Any winter precipitation that does fall will quickly transition into more heavy rain, heightening the possibility of localized flooding, Lincoln Parish Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Kip Franklin said.
As much as 3 inches of additional rain is forecast to fall on ground that’s already saturated and streams that are already full, he said.
Chance of rain today is 60% jumping to 90% tonight and 90% during the day on Thursday. Daytime highs are expected to remain in the 30s until Friday with sunny skies in the forecast for the weekend.
