Funeral services for Forrest C. “Pete” Peterson, 89, of Ruston, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, 2019, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston, LA. The Rev. Bob Derch will officiate. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.

Visitation was held from 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.

Forrest was born on Jan. 23, 1930, in Homer, LA to Lentice H. Peterson and Mildred Bridwell Peterson of Homer, LA, and passed away on Aug.14, 2019, in Ruston.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Ruston.

For 38 years, Forrest worked for Bell South, South Central Bell, and retired from AT&T. He was avid about the sports at LA Tech and Ruston High School and loved participating as he carried the chains for the football teams at both schools.

Forrest served in the Korean War with the 42nd Field Artillery Brigade.

Forrest is preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Mildred Falkenheiner Peterson; daughter Libby McMullen and husband Corbet of West Monroe, LA; granddaughter April Taylor and husband Dustin; and great grandson Riggins Ray of Dubach; son Clay Peterson and wife Susie of Ruston; step grandchildren Jamie Morganthall and wife Donna of Downsville and their children: Jacob, Savanna, Kristin, Daniel, and his son Jack; and Charlie Morganthall and wife Toni of Ruston and their children CJ and Cole

Pallbearers honoring Forrest are William Foust, Mike Smith, Ronald (Speedy) Edwards, Rob Richardson, Paul Richardson, and Bill Gnemi. Honorary pallbearers will be previous Bell South, South Central Bell, and AT&T employees.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
