MIAMI — The New Orleans Saints turned the Super Bowl’s postgame celebration into something out of the French Quarter.From the trophy podium on the field, Drew Brees blew kisses and caught confetti raining down as Dr. John and Professor Longhair blared from the stadium speakers. Sean Payton hung over the railing clapping and shouting down to the crowd as if he were rolling on a Mardi Gras float, then waved a newspaper with the banner headline “WORLD CHAMPS.”

Fassitt: Living a dream
Greg Fassitt couldn’t make this story up if he tried.
Get this: the first time he ever touched a football — for competitive playing purposes, that is — it was when he was a junior at John F. Kennedy High School in New Orleans.
“I was never big into sports until then,” he recalled earlier this week. “My thing was to one day become a lawyer. That’s what I had set my heart on and that’s what I devoted most of my time to, taking care of my studies and preparing for law school one day.”

Scelfo joins Arizona staff
New head football coach Sonny Dykes of Louisiana Tech University served for the past five years on the staff at the University of Arizona.
Now, a member of the Bulldogs’ staff is joining the Pac-10 program.
Frank Scelfo, who has coordinated the offense and directed the quarterbaccks for the Bulldogs’ program during the past three years, has been hired by head coach Mike Stoops of Arizona. »
