For the first time in five seasons, the Choudrant Lady Aggies (13-18, 5-0) won the District 2-B title after a 46-13 win over Downsville Tuesday.

Choudrant, who won just three of its first 10 games this season, has found a groove at the right time and made easy work of Downsville to deliver an outright district title to the program for the first time since the 2018-19 season. Through multiple coaches and graduating classes that could never quite get there, the 2023-24 Lady Aggies are officially winners.

“I am really proud of the girls and how they have played in district,” Choudrant head coach Brandy Roberson said after the win Tuesday. “They have really worked hard this season. It really is exciting to be a part of this program and this culture.”

The Lady Aggies clearly had their eyes on the prize from the jump over Downsville, jumping ahead 17-2 after the first quarter, with Reese Brown and Addison Swift each scoring 4 points. The lead ballooned to 32-7 at the break as six Lady Aggies scored, including 4 points from Ivy Collinsworth and Abby Frazier. Even with starters seeing limited minutes in the second half, Choudrant managed to outscore Downsville 14-6 over the final 16 minutes to coast to its fifth straight victory.

A total of nine Choudrant players scored on the historic night, led by Collinsworth with 10 points, while Brelyn Pyle finished with 9 points off a trio of three-pointers. Reese Brown added 8 points as well.

Later in the evening, the Choudrant boys took care of business in a blowout win over Downsville to improve to 20-11 overall and 4-1 in district play.

Michael Jones outscored Downsville by himself with 26 points, pouring in 21 in the first half alone. Jones, a senior, has put up 63 points over the team's last two district wins.

Choudrant made easy work of it district foe, leading 20-9 after the first and 38-10 at halftime. Jones and other starters took a seat once the score got out of hand but Choudrant's bench outscored Downsville 16-8 in the second half.

Along with Jones, Lawson Stevens contributed 11 points and Carson Carrico scored 6 points with two three-pointers in the first half in the win.

Both the Lady Aggies and Aggies wrap up district play Friday for a rematch at Forest.
