Ruston High seniors Cade Campbell and Adam Campbell (no relation) are getting the chance to just keep swimming.

Both Adam and Cade signed to swim at the next level Monday afternoon in the RHS auditorium, with Cade headed to Centenary College in Shreveport and Adam headed to the University of Missouri - St. Louis.

Cade, who finished 13th in the 200 Individual Medley and 14th at the 100 Freestyle at the LHSAA Division II State Swim Meet Championship in 2023, is ready for the next chapter in his athletic and academic life.

“It means a lot. It’s a big step going out of high school," Cade said. “Touring the campus, it was just welcoming. I like the small campus. It was the main school I looked at because it was close to home.”

After taking up swimming in 2019, Cade always had the idea of swimming at the next level in the back of his mind. But it wasn't until he got deeper into high school he realized his dream was attainable.

“It was always a thought and the more I got into high school it became a big dream to me. I wanted to do it," Cade said.

Adam had a different path than Cade, thinking at first he'd never have the chance to swim at the next level. But once ge began the college search process, doors began to open and he wasn't afraid to step forward.

“Earlier in high school, I never thought this would be possible. Now it is," Adam said. "I’m excited for the future and that I get to do this and see how far it can take me.”

Adam finished 2nd in the 200 Individual Medley and 2nd in the 100 Butterfly as an All-State performer at the LHSAA Division II State Swim Meet Championship in 2023.
