Tech, GSU softball teams to meet today

in

Louisiana Tech University will host Grambling State in a Lincoln Parish softball match-up as the Lady Techsters and Tigers are set for a 6 p.m. start time tonight at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.
Admission is free.
Tech (2-7) is coming off a weekend that saw the Lady Techsters play five games at the Texas Classic, including two against fifth-ranked Kentucky (L, 1-0; L, 6-3) and one against 25th ranked Texas (L, 7-2).

Lady Techsters hit the road to battle Tulsa

Louisiana Tech gets another opportunity to break through in the win column on the road when the Lady Techsters travel to face the Tulsa Golden Hurricane at the Donald W. Reynolds Center in a game that is set to tipoff at 7 p.m. tonight
Tech (7-17, 2-9 Conference -USA) is looking for its first road win of the season and the first since defeated UTSA 78-72 on Feb. 7 of last year.

Culture Guild met to talk about RPAR activities

The regular monthly meeting of the Culture Guild was held at the home of member Jane Shell. Hostesses were Shirley Weaver and Lou Ropp.
Guest speaker Ashlynn Shell, City of Ruston recreation supervisor, gave an informative talk on the special events and activities offered by Ruston Parks and Recreation.

Retired Tech engineering professors receive professionalism awards

Mel Corley, professor emeritus of mechanical engineering, and James Eads, former program chair and lecturer in electrical engineering technology, have received statewide engineering professionalism awards for 2014 from the Louisiana Engineering Society.
Corley was selected to receive the Leo M. Odom Award for Services to the Profession for his distinguished service to engineering in Louisiana, and the Louisiana Engineering Foundation selected Eads for an Engineering Faculty Professionalism Award for endorsing engineering professionalism at Tech.

The power and impact of love

We need to love people with a force that is natural, and by natural I mean like nature, like a waterfall or wind or waves on the ocean. Love is effortless. There is no explanation for a person who loves, save God. To let God’s love flow through you. It is an adventure both big and small, adventures that are intoxicating.
Kay impacted my life because she loved me.
Love in the brain changes nothing. It hugs and prays and cries and sings. Love does things. What a privilege to be loved by a Christian wife!

Pinewood Derby results announced

Any scout is invited to participate in the Louisiana Purchase Council pinewood derby race to be held in April. The Louisiana Purchase Council serves 20 parishes in Northeast and Central Louisiana. Parishes include: Allen, Avoyelles, Caldwell, Catahoula, Concordia, East Carroll, Franklin, Grant, Jackson, LaSalle, Lincoln, Madison, Morehouse, Ouachita, Rapides, Richland, Tensas, Union, West Carroll and Winn.

The Village of Simsboro met in regular session Monday, February 03, 2014 at 6:15 P.M. Council members present were: Alderman Tiffany Cole , Alderman Doug Durrett and Alderman Pam Durrett . Also present: Jessica Darden, Ruston Daily Leader, Andre Kittles, Allen Perry, and Jeri Hendricks.
Mayor Willie Hendricks called the meeting to order. Alderman Pam Durrett voiced the prayer and Mayor Hendricks led the Pledge of Allegiance.
