Instilling the love of learning

in
Hogan, Charles.jpg

The year 2013 was very good for the students, faculty and parents of Choudrant Elementary. In the State Department’s accountability program, the school was awarded a letter grade of “B” and was only four-tenths of a point from an “A.” Because of the growth rate of students who had the year before scored below Basic, CES was honored as a Top Gains School for Louisiana. We were also very proud of the “A” that Choudrant High School received. As its sole feeder school, we take pride in laying the foundation for their students.

Degrie, Elizabeth 8-13 NEW.jpg

Lincoln Parish residents are pretty lucky. I’ve lived in other places, and known people from other places, and I’m prepared to say that Lincoln Parish has one of the best library’s around.
But, you don’t have to take my word for it. Late last month, during the Library Board of Control meeting, Library Director Vivian McCain told board members that the library had once again achieved the highest circulation numbers per capita in the state.

Natchitoches — The Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts Foundation met and exceeded its fundraising goal during its fifth annual phonathon held Monday through Thursday, Feb. 3-6.

Show her the love with life insurance

in
Moore, Byron.jpg

Question: I’ve started a new job, and we’re cutting back on everything at my house. My wife and I are having a disagreement about life insurance and our retirement plan. I say we need to keep putting as much money as possible in our retirement plan. But to keep doing that, we’ll have to cut back on the life insurance we have on me. She’s worried about something happening to me, but I’m thinking about our future. What do you think?
Answer: Friday was Valentine’s Day. Show me the love, dude.

Conville, Bobby 2014.jpg

Often investors find that a significant portion of their assets may have accumulated in one particular stock. Perhaps you have a long career working for the same company, or you may have acquired stock through inheritance. If this is the case, it is easy to reach the point where this single holding is sizable enough that you may want to evaluate your situation and consider a range of strategies around the stock.

However, a “meaningful” gift doesn’t gain its meaning from its size, but rather its impact. What types of financial gifts can have the greatest effect on the life of your loved one? Here are a few possibilities:
