Change in schedule

Simsboro High moves to 4-by-4 blocks

For high school students in Lincoln Parish, the school day typically involves seven different classes with seven different teachers and seven different sets of expectations. This year, however, Simsboro High School students will only have to deal with only four classes each day.
Ricky Durrett, principal of the K-12 school, explained that the school’s oldest students are now on a 4-by-4 block schedule. They will take four 90-minute classes each semester with a switch at half term.

GSU hires, promotes officers

Grambling State University is making history yet again.
Wednesday marked the induction and promotion of several officers employed by the GSU Police Department.
In May 2013, GSU hired Willy Bell, a retired police chief from North Carolina, as a consultant to come in to revamp and restructure the entire department.
“All of the guys we have hired have past experience,” Bell said. “I won’t go home until we have hired everyone to fill out the new structure we have designed.”

Men as supporters, men as allies

In a strong majority of the situations DART encounters, we are called upon to help protect a woman from abuse by her husband or boyfriend. The regrettable truth is that in the majority of domestic violence cases, the victim is a woman and the abuser is a man. For this reason, some people may believe that DART has a problem with men.
Please allow me to dispel that myth. We are huge fans of men! In fact, DART believes that men are a powerful force in our efforts to stop family violence.
When a man stands up and says, “I will not tolerate domestic violence,” people take notice.

Red River Revel Fest announces line-up
