Roebucks celebrate 50 years

John and Gloria Barrett Roebuck, of Ruston, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Thursday. The Roebucks were married on July 24, 1964, at the First Baptist Church in Wilmot, Arkansas. A trip was taken to the Buffalo National River in June to celebrate the couple’s 50th wedding anniversary. The couple said they chose to travel to Arkansas because it is “God’s Country.” The couple has a daughter Lisa Nelson, who is married to Paul. They also have three grandchildren — Larkin, Barrett and Landry Grace Nelson.

Lincoln Parish Fire Protection District No. 1 Civil Service Board met on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Vienna Station in Dubach, Louisiana, with the following members present: Dwight Anderson, Charles Edwards, and Dustin St. Andre.
Invocation was given by Dwight Anderson.

Shedding light on art

Several students from Lincoln Parish were recently honored at the Governor’s Mansion for their participation in the 12th annual Louisiana Environmental Awareness Student Art Contest, hosted by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
“In April my students submitted their work for the contest,” said Gifted/Talented Art Teacher at Ruston Junior High School Crystal Pye. “The theme this year was Watersheds.”

Wreck results in fatality

A Ruston woman was pronounced dead at the scene of a wreck early this morning.
Ruston Police Department received the 911 call of a single motor vehicle accident at 1:08 a.m. today at the intersection of Goodwin Road and Kentucky Avenue.
Upon responding, officers reported the driver to be Annie Smith Carrier, 34, of 1803 Corely St. The Lincoln Parish Coroner pronounced Smith dead at the scene.
This accident is still currently under investigation.
RPD Chief of Police Steve Rogers said at this point all that is known is the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.
