Santa visits Lions Club

“Santa Claus” recently visited the Ruston Lions Club’s noon meeting at the Ruston Country Club. Santa (J.D. Harper) was in attendance at the meeting to tell the Lions of his involvement in and support of the VFW, as well as other Veterans organization. The VFW is responsible for the placement of flags around the city for patriotic occasions.

$50K stolen from Tech

Guerin: Steps have been taken to improve controls

In a Louisiana Legislative Auditor’s report released today, it was stated that Louisiana Tech University did not have proper controls over money collected at several locations on campus, which resulted in the theft of $50,891 from the athletic ticket operations by a former employee.
David Guerin, executive director of University Communications for Tech said the university has taken necessary steps to improve the collection and safeguarding of documentation so that instances such as theft will not happen again.

Facility lends a hand to families with special needs

A new child care facility has recently opened its doors to the special needs children in the Ruston-Lincoln area.
Todd Craighead, director, is a Registered Nurse and has been in the nursing field for 19 years.
“I’ve always wanted to do something with kids,” he said. “I always said someday, somehow I would end up working with kids and now I have.”
