Support Bulldog, Tiger fan days

Football season is back and the pair of Lincoln Parish universities wants to celebrate with the community.
Grambling State and Louisiana Tech Universities will host their own respective Fan Fests on Saturday on their campuses.
GSU invites all fans, alumni and GSU supporters to their event from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the old GSU Tiger Stadium at the university track.

Prepare to ‘Rock the Railroad’

in
City sets Louisiana Tech home game events

Rock the Railroad is coming back.
Starting Sept. 1 and every Friday of each of Louisiana Tech University’s seven home football game weekends, Railroad Park will be the site of live music, pep rallies and themed events aimed at drawing people to downtown Ruston.
Rock the Railroad is part of the larger Loyal Blue Weekend partnership created last year among the city, the Ruston Lincoln Convention & Visitors Bureau and Tech.

Chick-fil-A officially opens

Area man celebrates 141 grand openings

At 5:45 a.m. this morning, Richard Coley celebrated his 141st grand opening of a Chick-fil-A restaurant.
Originally of St. Petersburg, Florida, he now lives in Arcadia and said he was delighted to be able attend the grand opening.
“I have been there for 141 different store grand openings in 31 states,” he said, adding that his first grand opening took place three miles from his home in Florida.
“I initially started attending the grand openings because of the opportunity to get free food. There is nothing unusual about that. The food is great and it is even better if it is free.”

Maynor, Phillips to wed

Abbey Maynor, of Pineville, and Josh Phillips, of Ruston, proudly announce their recent engagement and forthcoming marriage.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Jerry and Kelly Maynor. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Helen Johnson, of Pineville; and the late Ronald Johnson; and Ms. Yvonne Maynor, of Ivan.

She is a 2012 graduate of Bolton High School, and a 2016 graduate of Louisiana State University.

She is currently employed at The Chapel in Baton Rouge.

Penwell, Griffin to marry

Meghan Penwell of Shreveport, and Austin Griffin, of Shreveport, proudly announce their recent engagement and forthcoming marriage.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Richard and Nancy Penwell, of Benton; and Trina Penwell, of Doyline.

Meghan is a 2008 graduate of Benton High School, and a 2012 graduate of Louisiana Tech University. She currently works as a teacher at Captain Shreve High School in Shreveport.

The groom is the son of Donald and Linda Griffin, of Ruston. He is the grandson of Mrs. Melha Hollis, of Ruston; and the late Coy Griffin; and the late James and Betty Summers.
