Parish under heat advisory

in

Lincoln Parish is under a heat advisory through 7 p.m. Thursday.
The National Weather Service advisory covers most of North Louisiana and East Texas.
Temperatures are expected to reach upper 90s today, with heat indexes climbing as high as 108 degrees, the NWS said.
The heat index is the measure of how hot it really feels when the humidity is factored in with the actual temperature.

How to treat teens living with depression

in
Washington, Jerrilene 2016.jpg

Adolescence is a time of many challenges. Developing bodies and social and academic stresses can be difficult.
Major depression in your teenagers can be serious.
If left untreated, depression can lead to devastating consequences. Ongoing problems in school, at home and with friends; the loss of critical developmental years; increased risk for substance abuse; involvement with the juvenile justice system; and suicide can be the results.
It is important to seek a health care provider who will provide coping alternatives and self-soothing strategies as ways to help your teenager.

Bergeron, Nancy.jpg

Now that we’ve had a little more time to think about it, maybe we should ask state Rep. Rob Shadoin’s question anew: “Did we not learn anything in the last 60 days?”
The Ruston lawmaker’s query came two days after the Legislature ended a 60-day fiscal session in June without adopting an operating budget, a construction budget or the financing bill to pay for the projects.
