Preparations begin for Wiggin’ Out

Tickets and sponsorship packages are now available for the Fourth Annual Wiggin’ Out Dinner and Gala set for Oct. 2 at Squire Creek Country Club.
The annual gala is the premiere event for the Wiggin’ Out organization, an entity that purchases wigs, lymphatic garments and prosthetic bras for those in North Louisiana unable to afford them.
General admission tickets are available for $50 per ticket or $90 per couple. Reserved tables of eight are also available through the “Bob” table sponsorship for $600.

DART gets set for school

It’s hard to believe that we are more than halfway through the summer vacation. In one month, Lincoln Parish Schools will resume classes, and a new school year will start.
If you have shopped for school supplies and uniforms lately, you know that this can be a costly time of year. Since women who flee from an abusive marriage often end up living at the poverty level while they search for jobs or complete their education, this is a very challenging time. For this reason, DART makes every attempt to help out with school uniforms and school supplies.

Tech’s Fischer on Lou Groza Watch List

Kyle Fischer, who set a Louisiana Tech school record with five successful field goals in a game last October at Florida International University, was named to the thirty-player Watch List for the 2014 Lou Groza Collegiate Placekicker Award, as announced by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission last week.
As a redshirt freshman last season Fischer connected on 18-of-23 field goal attempts, including hitting 4-of-6 attempts from 40 yards and beyond.

LA Tech basketball tickets on sale

Louisiana Tech fans can soon purchase their hoops season tickets for what is sure to be an exciting year for Bulldog and Lady Techster basketball.
Season tickets for the 2014-15 Tech basketball season officially go on sale starting today and is exclusive to those who were a basketball season ticket holder last season and any current football season ticket holder. Other fans wishing to purchase season tickets can do so starting July 29.

The Robinson legend lives on

Eddie G. Robinson Sr. loved football, but his legend, a much-deserved one, runs much deeper than that.
Coach Rob was about much more than football — one of his biggest ambitions was working with young people and coaching the game of life.
And don’t doubt that on Saturday morning, as the seventh annual Eddie G Robinson football camp was held at Greenwood Park in Ruston — the first camp since the death of Eddie Robinson Jr. last fall — both Sr. and Jr. were looking down at the proceedings and smiling, proud that their legacy is living on.

Funeral services are scheduled at for Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, Louisiana. Visitation is scheduled from 1:30 PM till service time at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Rev. Dale Oden. Graveside services will follow at Colvin Memorial Cemetery in Unionville, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.
