The Cedar Creek Cougars will see a team much like themselves when they play host to St. Edmunds at 7 p.m. tonight in Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division IV quarterfinal playoff action.
Fifth-seeded SEHS and No.4 Cedar Creek are both 8-3.
Both teams had first-round byes. St. Edmunds eliminated No. 17 Ascension Catholic (48-34) last Friday night at Blue Jay Field, while Cedar Creek also won a postseason contest at home over Catholic High-Pointe Coupee by the score of 40-8.

For Louisiana Tech, it’s all about ending the season on a positive note.
And for the University of Texas-San Antonio, it’s about the chance of picking up a bowl berth and even potentially reaching the Conference USA title game.
That’s what’s on the line Saturday as UTSA (6-5 overall, 5-2 C-USA) plays host to Tech (4-7, 3-4) in the season finale for both teams.
Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. in the Alamodome in San Antonio.
While a bowl berth is out of the question his Bulldogs, Tech coach Skip Holtz still feels the team has much to play for.

Bulldogs take tourney title

in

ESTERO, Fla. — It was a back and forth battle as both Louisiana Tech and St. Bonaventure wanted the title of being the inaugural Gulf Coast Showcase champions, but the Bulldogs used stifling defense and clutch free throw shooting down the stretch to take it, 76-72, on Wednesday night inside the Germain Arena.
Tech (5-1) has now won five in a row, including four away home, and proudly brought a trophy back home to Ruston.
St. Bonaventure (5-2) built a 14-7 out of the gates, but Raheem Appleby came off the bench to spark the Bulldog offense.
