MINUTES

THE VILLAGE of Simsboro met in regular session Monday, August 05, 2013 at 6:1 5 P.M.
Present were: Mayor Hendricks, Aldermen: Tiffany Cole and Pam Durrett. Alderman Doug Durrett not present. Also in attendance was a representative from the Ruston Daily Leader.
Alderman Pam Durrett voiced the prayer and Mayor Hendricks led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Hendricks presented the agenda. A motion was made by Alderman Pam Durrett and second by Alderman Tiffany Cole to adopt the agenda as presented. Motion passed.

AT&T MOBILITY/NEW Cingular Wireless PCS

AT&T MOBILITY/NEW Cingular Wireless PCS, LLC is proposing to install a monopole telecommunications tower off of Cornell Avenue in Ruston, Lincoln Parish, Louisiana 71270 at latitude 32° 31' 2.1” north and longitude 92° 37' 23.4” west. The height of the tower will be 39.6 meters above ground level (128.8 meters above mean sea level). The tower is anticipated to be unlit. Specific information regarding the project is available by calling Henry Fisher during normal business hours at (205) 629-3868. Any interested party may submit comments by November 18, 2013 with Environmental Engineers, Inc.

Youth to participate in NCLAC event

The North Central Louisiana Arts Council encourages arts in the youth and the organization in hosting yet anotherart-filled day for area youth.
NCLAC will host Tie-Dye Day as part of its first Arts Academy class of the 2013-14 school year.
NCLAC Executive Director said the idea came from a member — Rachel Johnston.
“She suggested with the Columbus Day school holiday right around the corner it would be the perfect time to offer the class for students while parents are working,” Slaughter said. “So the idea and the need fit together very well.”

Grambling recognizes contributions

Four citizens, a bank and a local organization will be honored at the Greater Grambling Chamber of Commerce annual Community Contributions banquet Oct. 24 at the Ruston Civic Center.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a wine and cheese reception and a silent auction followed by the banquet at 7 p.m. Individual tickets are $30 and tables seating eight are $210.

Woman arrested for drugs charges

At 2:34 p.m. Wednesday, the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested one woman during a routine traffic stop on charges of drug possession.
Callie Marie Hockenjos, 26, of 1298 Farmerville Highway was arrested on possession of schedule V drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and open container. The total bond for possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and open container is $2,750 while the bond for possession of schedule V drugs is yet to be set.

Simsboro council OKs permit

SIMSBORO — The Simsboro Town Council passed a motion to allow a building permit and targeted areas to include on a Louisiana Community Development Block Grant program application during Monday’s monthly meeting at Simsboro Town Hall.
Aldermen Pam Durrett, Doug Durrett and Tiffany Cole OK’d a building permit for a mobile home trailer to be placed at 399 Rose Street. A mobile home had previously been located at that site but was moved to a different location.
The Council also agreed to request LCDBG funding for work for repairs on Woodland and Mary streets and Railroad Avenue.
