FIU took advantage of an open net off a free kick in the first overtime period to hand Louisiana Tech a 3-2 loss on Sunday evening at the Lady Techster Soccer Complex.
The Tech (6-7-1, 1-3 Conference-USA) defense collapsed on the crosser from the right wing and when goalkeeper Caitlin Updyke was unable to punch the ball out, it came loose in the eight-yard box where FIU’s (4-8, 2-2 C-USA) Johanna Volz sealed the victory for the Panthers.

Tech volleyball beat by Marshall

in

The Thundering Herd of Marshall (9-10, 3-1 C-USA) proved to be too much for Louisiana Tech (7-12, 1-3 C-USA) as the Lady Techsters volleyball team fell, 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-19), Sunday afternoon at Cam Henderson Arena in Huntington, W. Va.
Marshall took control of the match from the very start and never let up as the Thundering Herd only lost the lead once in the entire match when the Techsters took a 1-0 lead to begin the second set. This marks the third time this season Tech has lost in straight sets as the Lady Techsters are now 4-3 when playing in three consecutive sets.

Tech men pick up pace during hoops workouts

Louisiana Tech point guard Speedy Smith was one of many players happy to go full speed in practice for the first time this fall, as was head coach Michael White.
The Bulldogs turned up the pace and went all out in practice late last week, working on skill development with their assigned assistant coach and then the reigns were let go as the team went full-throttle, as they do for 40 minutes on every game day, working on defensive breakdown drills in press man and zone.

in
Boatright, T. Scott.jpg

I wish I was one of the special ones.
But I guess I don’t know where to sign up and get on the list.
It’s no secret Ruston is a school-based town, with many Louisiana Tech and Grambling State students living here as well as faculty and staff members of those schools raising families of their own.
That makes for a lot of early morning traffic around town, traffic that sometimes isn’t easy to navigate.
The special ones can make those morning journeys even tougher.
