O.K.'s Corral: Terry’s dad Bill Bradshaw: A special man

in
Davis, OK.jpg

Rest in peace, “Mr. Bill,” and thanks for being so special to your family and many friends.
Bill Bradshaw, 86, passed away recently following a lengthy illness.
I got to know him more than 40 years ago when I began writing about one of his three sons.
As Terry Paxton Bradshaw began his rise to national acclaim from Shreveport’s Woodlawn High, then Louisiana Tech University and on to the Pittsburgh Steelers, I would many times call his home in Shreveport to track him down.
Bill or his lovely wife Novis would serve as a “GPS,” if you will, for locating Terry.

Junior point guard Kenneth “Speedy” Smith notched his third career double-double Saturday as Louisiana Tech raced to its 20th win of the season Saturday night with a 90-75 win over North Texas before a Thomas Assembly Center crowd of 5,123.
Smith netted 17 points to go along with 10 assists. A few of those assists were dishes to Kenyon McNeail, who recorded a game-high 18 points, including a match of Smith’s four 3-pointers, all coming in the second half to help the ’Dogs pull away.

Lady Techsters topped at Marshall

HUNTINGTON, W.V. — Whitney Frazier had a career day against Marshall. Louisiana Tech did not.
The junior forward scored a career-high 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for her 12th double double of the year.
Frazier’s jump shot with 11:06 to play in the game was also a milestone as she became the 41st player in Lady Techster history to join the 1,000 point club.
However, while Frazier was hitting on all cylinders against the Thundering Herd, the Lady Techsters were misfiring as Tech fell 69-55 at Cam Henderson Center Saturday afternoon.

GRAMBLING — So close, but so far away.
That was the story for the Grambling State Lady Tigers Saturday afternoon as a late comeback try against Southern fell just short in the Frederick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.
A steal by Joanna Miller sent GSU’s Jessica Watkins racing down a wide-open court with only seconds remaining and the Lady Tigers trailing by two points.

GRAMBLING (AP) — Malcolm Miller pumped in 22 points as Southern humbled Grambling State, 104-54 Saturday night.

Louisiana Tech rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to post a dramatic come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Saint Louis Saturday night at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.
The improbably win salvaged a split on the day for Tech (2-1), which fell 10-9 in eight innings to Wichita State in the first game of the day.
