Crash at Hill and Lewis streets

The Ruston Fire Department and Emergency Medical Service responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Hill and Lewis Street. Both vehicles received moderate damage to the front ends. One person was transported to the emergency room for minor injuries.

Burglary suspect at large

At approximately 6 a.m. Tuesday the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Department was called to the office of Lincoln Parish Water District No. 3, located at 4035 U.S. Highway 80 in reference to a burglary.
Reportedly, once deputies were inside the business, they observed that cash and change had been taken by the suspect.
Maj. Chad Alexander, LPSO spokesman, said aside from the photo of the suspect, other evidence recovered from the scene should provide useful in the successful apprehension and prosecution of this suspect.

Grambling rescinds charitable gaming tax for one year

The board of alderman for the city of Grambling made a decision on rescinding a 5 percent usage tax for charitable gaming organizations at their regular monthly meeting last week.
Mayor Edward Jones brought a resolution before the council to rescind the tax. This makes the third time the question of rescinding the 5 percent tax has been on the agenda for the board of aldermen to approve.
The tax would be suspended for one year Jones said.
“Each of the four charitable gaming organizations pays about $400 per quarter,” he said.
