Area legislators, constituents get together to talk issues over

Area residents and state legislators got together Monday night for a meeting of the minds and the opportunity to find out where each stands on political issues.
Rep. Patrick Jefferson, Sen. Bob Kostelka, Rep. Rob Shadoin and Sen. Rick Gallot appeared at Monday’s Tea Party meeting at the Ruston Country Club.
“I think the meeting went very well,” organizer Bob Flournoy said. “I think people needed to ask a lot of those questions and have them talked about, even if there are no clear answers for many of them.”

Project announced

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced on Monday, a project for improvements to Interstate 20 in Lincoln Parish. The event was held at the Tremont rest area along I-20.

LPFD responds to multiple fires

This holiday weekend was very busy for the Lincoln Parish Fire Department. Since July 4 they have responded to four residential fires and one woods fire.
On July 4, LPFD responded to a structure fire at 740 Highway 146. The fire was contained to the kitchen and no injuries were reported. There were six units on scene, with seven volunteers and four career members present.

RFD responds to wreck off I-20

Ruston Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle crash at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The accident began in front of Trinity Methodist Church on the North Service Road and came to a stop on the other side of Cooktown Road beside Dowling’s Smoke House.
It appeared the truck left the road crashing through the fence bordering Interstate 20.
It traveled at a increasing rate of speed in the ditch beside the exit ramp nearly one-quarter mile, then jumped Cooktown Road landing in the field beside Dowling’s.

Brooks to be inducted into LMHOF

Marksville — Paragon Casino Resort is excited to announce that Shreveport native, Kix Brooks will perform in the Mari Showroom on Saturday at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $25 and are on sale now at Paragon Casino Resort and all Ticketmaster locations. Officials from the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame announced today that they will induct Kix Brooks during his performance at Paragon this Saturday.

‘Bee’ careful in taking a step

Today is National Don’t Step on a Bee Day.
While that may seem like a pretty silly holiday to celebrate or observe, at least one local is certainly concerned about bees in the area and hopes we all join in on his concern.
Tom Faber is starting up a Beekeeper’s Club, and their first meeting is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the LSU AgCenter office. While Faber is a big fan of bees, he also pointed out in a recent interview why others should be as well.

Answer: Maybe 10 minutes. Yep, Jane may be enrolled in school two hours away, but she and up to 100 of her peers actually go to school in Junction City, Ark, the town that straddles the Louisiana-Arkansas line.
