Accountability for equality

Education. Food. Medical care. Privacy. Housing.
These are just a few of many things the United Nations declared as human rights that every person is entitled to in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.
Forty-eight countries signed the document, a promise to hold each other to the high standards outlined in the 30 articles. But these countries have broken their promise.

Repealing certain laws infeasible

Recently there has been talk of the Louisiana Legislature attempting to take a law off the books that was deemed by the U.S. Supreme Court as unconstitutional.
On Tuesday, the House killed a bill that would remove Louisiana’s anti-sodomy law.
In an article published by the Associated Press, it stated the bill was brought before the legislature by Rep. Patricia Smith, D-Baton Rouge, who was seeking to remove consensual sex between people of the same sex from Louisiana’s crimes against nature law. The U.S. Supreme Court threw out a similar Texas law a decade ago in Lawrence v. Texas.
